With the existence of film and television, do you think still photography is as relevant as it used to be? Why or why not?

While looking at the existence of film and in television, Most would think that this deeply affects how relevant photography is. However, photography still continues to show relevance. This is shown greatly in the media. There are many networks that constantly show us televised events to tell us what is going on in the world. Although, there are still hundreds of magazines and newspapers that are still being used to give of the current news. In these magazines and newspapers you will find hundreds of pictures, which will help you understand and picture the story you are reading about.

Photography still does many things. It is still a way to capture a “moment” of what if going on around you.

Photographs are used in communication of the news as well as in different social networking sites. Photographs capture and save everything that is going on around us and let us remember it forever. Yes, film does play a large part in all of the different ways that a photo does. However, a photo is so much easier to access and understand.

Good photographers do not need a whole video to let the view know what is going on. “A picture says a thousand words.”

If the photo is good enough then the picture will either attract the viewer to read the article that it is with or the picture will tell the viewer all they need to know just by looking at it.

This will cause an increase in magazine and newspaper sales. Most stores place the magazine or newspaper in a certain spot so it can catch peoples eye. In order for it to do that it must have a picture along with a brief sentence identifying what the magazine or newspaper is going to talk about. If there are no pictures then it would be very hard for the magazine or newspaper to catch the potential buyers eye. It is shown that this methods work because eighty-five percent of adults eighteen and older have read at least one magazine in their lifetime.

Photography has been a big part in our society since the first photographic image was created in 1814.

Since then photography has been able to do a great deal even with the incoming exposure of film and television. Even with these two powerful media displaying objects, photography is still able to make sure it is still in the mix of things. Photography will never go away because there will always be a use for it somewhere. Whether its on a social media website, on a newspaper or magazine, or just a way to capture a moment that you want to remember forever. There are some things that I meant to be captured by a video camera and others by a regular camera. Therefore photography will continue to be around for a long time. And even though we are starting to see more a more people watch television then read, we will still see photographs because we will always want to remember a moment without watching a whole video.
